Altrincham
is easily accessible by car, bus, cycle, train and
Metrolink. Regular bus services provide routes to
all areas of Trafford as well as Manchester,
Stockport and Warrington. The Metrolink system
runs from Altrincham to Bury linking it with
Manchester city centre, Salford and Eccles. The
train from the town runs from Chester through to
Manchester Piccadilly, stopping at main stations
between. Manchester Airport is also served by bus
links from Altrincham. Cycle stands are available
on George Street and outside the library on
Stamford New Road.Altrincham’s Interchange in
the centre of the town provides a central access
point for all public transport option, including a
hackney cab rank and there are major plans to
enhance the whole Interchange area in the future.
The town is also linked to the main waterway
networks in the North West by means of the
Bridgewater Canal which runs on the outskirts of
the town centre.
